Take from the title what you will, I am sure many of you have made the same resolution. This is what it means to me...........
Make more time to:

Spend with my family
Conclude projects from start to finish precisely
(a bit of my OCD creeping in there me thinks)
Many things to get through there haven't I? The fact that 'spend time with my family' is second to last on my list, it is the first in my head. If I just did everything else right in the first place I would surely have much more family and me time in the end....she says :/.
Anyhow....I will share with you a few of my recent pictures and I'd love to hear what you think :). The first lot being of my most recent project..
Little Lady
I was a little reluctant to let go of Little Lady at first, but I do realise that it would be impossible for me to keep all the things I make. I am hoping she will be very happy in her new home and who know's, maybe she will acquire a friend at some point.
Next are my retro camera inspired cushions.... I so enjoyed making these.....
Some of the cushions are still available in my Folksy shop here.
Red apple paper cut commission. Loads of new ideas for papercuts but as usual...I need more time !!
A little bit of stamp making for my packaging...... really enjoyed this too.
A little drawing.....
A little shopping for buttons....all these lovelies were bought through face book from Bonkers about Buttons and Seeded - Vintage buttons and Haberdashery... Fabulous ladies and fabulous service.
Some retro camera shopping and inspirational source. I love the dash of red with the cream and black....
I have also managed to frame the children's Crumple Map which I bought from the Utility store in Liverpool. Although you might think I have done this for Evie's room, I haven't....this is now pride of place in my lounge. It was the retro colour and the design that drew me to this one. Love it.
And finally a couple of Christmas and birthday gifts I was lucky enough to receive... The stag head is also available from Utility and it looks perfect in my lounge (although it took a while for the other half to appreciate it) and anyone who has visited my blog before will know that I love Orla Kiely so was so happy when one of her phone cases arrived. It was a little late (due to being out of stock and my birthday being new years day) but I couldn't be happier :)
Right well...I'm afraid that's all folks. I need to try to catch up on some of my bloggy reads and also do some productive making....what time is it?....Can someone add me a few more hours, lol. Thanks for stopping by :)
Nic xxx

Beautiful papercut! Do you hand cut them? The dolly is lovely too. I think I have some of her hair :D Love the details like her collar and bag! I actually want her coat! and you know I LOVE those cushions!! Wish I had a house!
ReplyDeleteNic, I've seen all of your makes via facebook over the last few months but I'll say it again... you are sooooooooooooooo talented! Everything is so original but so beautiful and made with so much attention to detail. I know you're not taking any more orders for papercuts at the mo but someday I would love one of your special creations! Keep making, you are an inspiration! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post Nic... making more time is definitely something I need to do. I spent last year trying to grow my new business & as a result completely neglected every other aspect of my life. By Christmas my house looked like something from 'Hoarders', I'd forgotten what the countryside & fresh air was like & I'm surprised my children remembered me! I must say every one of the things on your list is on mine! Especially the one about completing things... I'm a complete failure at this! I have so many 'projects' planned & unfinished... 2012 is the year they'll get done!
ReplyDeleteYour doll is gorgeous... no wonder you found it hard to part with her! I'm a huge fan of your camera cushions too... just gorgeous!
Have a great weekend...

Hi Sumi...I do hand cut them and and I think I would quite like her coat too, lol.
ReplyDeleteJenny...thank you soooooo much, a massive compliment coming from you !! You have brought tears to my eyes (daft I know), but when I feel like giving it all up...I'll remember what you said and hopefully one day I'll be able to do a cut especially for you xxx
Roslyn....I am entirely with you, hopefully 2012 will be better !! Hope this is the one that gives you what you need :) xx
Wow your makes are incredible as always. Your doll is just stunning I love her lots and the cushions and papercuts are beautiful! I love to see your new makes and like the others I hope to have one of your papercuts one day too!

My list is pretty much identical to yours, I think we all go along thinking everyone else has found the perfect balance.I'm always in awe of how productive you are (as well as your talent,of course!)I adore your doll, she's perfect in every way and your cushions are on my wishlist. Thanks for sharing your makes and good luck for 2012,Cassandraxx
ReplyDeleteHi Nic, it's nice to see you back here posting on your blog, I've missed it :o) These are gorgeous makes; Little Lady is absolutely beautiful and the papercut is extremely detailed! All the best for 2012. Kerry xx
ReplyDeleteHi Nic, been checking in regularly on your blog and facebook (stalker like). Your work is beautiful and inspirational and it's obvious to see how much time you put into each piece. Stop beating yourself up, you cannot do everything on that list, aim for 3 ticks or something. Also I've found the computer a time hoover - so now I write a quick list while it boots up of exactly what I plan to do once it's switched on then pop it on the computer desk and it's really helped me waste less time online. Keep up the fantastic work. xx Nik
ReplyDeleteOh I love your doll (you know I do) I'm ashamed to say that Annis's doll is still naked (wrapped in a crochet blanket though). I love your camera cushions too, gorgeous fabrics. But what I love most is the fact that 'package' comes above 'family' that really made me laugh!
